This seminar will provide essential information for obtaining and enforcing US patents. Essential US patent case law will be examined from the comparative law perspective. An overview of patent prosecution at USPO including patent claim and specification drafting will be covered. Substantive and procedural aspects of patent enforcement at US district courts and International Trade Commission will be discussed. Prof. Toshiko Takenaka, who was Director of CASRIP at the University of Washington, developed topics and format based on her experience running the Summer Institute. Speakers who taught at CASRIP Summer Institute including a world’s leading patent expert, Prof. Adelman at George Washington will join her to teach US patent law from the comparative law perspective. The very modest registration fee, $300, will cover lunch, farewell party, course materials and administration fees. The program will give a head start to enroll in a US law school or work as a trainee at a US law firm. |
